Fans won’t have to wait long for the second season of Shonda Rhimes’ historical romance drama - Bridgerton. The series has been officially renewed for a second season, and filming is starting this spring.

In its announcement of Bridgerton season two, Netflix included a special edition of Lady Whistledown’s Society Paper. In it, we learn that Season 2 will focus on the eldest Bridgerton sibling. Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey, will be looking for a suitable wife. In all likelihood, that means the show will follow Julia Quinn’s second novel in the Bridgerton Series - The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Casting is currently underway for several new roles, the most important of which is Kate Sheffield, Anthony’s love interest in The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Here is the synopsis of The Viscount Who Loved Me:

1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London’s most elsuive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry.
And in truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better…
—Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1814

But this time the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry—he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate is the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams…

Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate is determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself…

From Shondaland and Creator Chris Van Dusen, the first season of Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews) casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable, and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.
