Deadline has confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen will appear in Indiana Jones 5. The acclaimed Danish actor will join Harrison Ford, who is reprising his iconic title role as the adventuring archaeologist and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Further details about his character are still being kept under wraps.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Hannibal, Doctor Strange, and Casino Royale are just a few of Mikkelsen's many credits. He took over for Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts films earlier this year. His latest film, Another Round, earned Oscar nominations for Best International Feature and Best Director.
The highly-anticipated sequel has been in development since 2016, and it is expected that it will start production this summer. Plot details are still being kept secret.
Steven Spielberg, who directed the first four Indiana Jones adventures, is replaced as director by James Mangold. Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers on the film.
