“I’m honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse,” showrunner Eric Heisserer said in a statement for Deadline, “and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo.”
According to Netflix’s numbers, more than 55 million member accounts have watched the epic fantasy series first season in its first 28 days. Shadow and Bone has made the streamer’s Top 10 list in 93 countries around the world and hit No. 1 in 79 countries.
Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Ben Barnes, Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman are all set to reprise their roles in season two. We can expect additional casting in the next few months.
Shadow and Bone is created, written and executive produced by Heisserer. The hit fantasy series is based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling Grishaverse novels, specifically the Shadow and Bone trilogy and companion series Six of Crows. Bardugo’s is also executive producing. Shawn Levy is also returning to executive produce with his company 21 Laps Entertainment, along with Pouya Shahbazian for Loom Studios.
“I’ve been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I’m thrilled we get to keep this adventure going,” Bardugo said in a statement for Deadline. “There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand.”
