Chris Evans Joins Dwayne Johnson in Red One

Entertainment TV & Movies

Chris Evans will team up with Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming holiday action-comedy for Amazon.

Johnson announced his involvement in Red One back in June. It will be the pair's first team up on the big or small screen. Both actors appeared in cameos in Sean Levy's 2021 comedy Free Guy but had no scenes together.

Evans is best known for his role as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in the MCU. His next project is the Russo Brothers' The Gray Man for Netflix. He is voicing the role of Baz Lightyear in Lightyear for Pixar. Evans is developing an untitled Gene Kelly project, which he will star in and produce. He will also star in Apple's upcoming film, Ghosted. Evans recently appeared in Adam McKay's end-of-the-world comedy Don't Look Up for Netflix, as well as the Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob.

Plot details for Red One are being kept under wraps. The film is described as an action-adventure comedy that imagines a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre. The project will start shooting this year.

Chris Morgan will write the script based on an original idea by Hiram Garcia, president of production company Seven Bucks Productions.

Jake Kasdan will direct the film. The film will reunite Kasdan and Johnson, who worked together on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, which grossed a combined $1.7 billion worldwide.
