Josh Hartnett Joins Christopher Nolan’s upcoming biopic.

According to Deadline, Josh Hartnett (Wrath of Man, 30 Days of Night, Penny Dreadful) is the latest star to join the ever-growing ensemble of Christopher Nolan’s newest movie. Hartnett joins Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, and Benny Safdie in the biopic Oppenheimer.

There are currently no specifics on who Hartnett will portray in the film.

The film follows the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb. The Oppenheimer will be based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Murphy will portray Oppenheimer, and Blunt will play his wife Katherine. Downey will take on the role of Lewis Strauss, the infamous chairman of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, with Damon starring as Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, director of the Manhattan Project. Pugh will play Jean Tatlock, Safdie will portray Edward Teller, and Malek will play an unspecified scientist.

Oppenheimer will hit theaters on July 21, 2023.
